Spark Alternative Learning has designed our weekend English Learning classes for children age 2-8. That age group is perfect for learning and absorbing a second or even a third language. Combine learning another language with the fun interaction with friends and instructors and you end up with a class that kids cannot wait to get back to!
This very popular group of classes is taught by American teachers that expose children to basic English phrases, the alphabet and counting. Kids also learn the phonetic pronunciation of letters as well as American Sign Language (ASL) as a further tool to aid in communication.
Language by nature is very abstract and intangible. Children, on the other hand, are very literal and concrete. This makes it challenging to explain grammar or syntax rules to children. Don’t worry, we have the answer.
Our approach to teaching youngsters keeps it simple. We follow four basic rules:
Keep it fun
Be creative
Make it active
Don’t put pressure on students
Through songs, dancing and reading, students mix social time with learning time. That mix of talking, reading and playing works magic for these young learners. They not only develop better English reading skills, but these young weekend students also advance their social skills using conversational English. They gain confidence weekly and their use of English words grows and grows.
This 8-week class also includes a 2-month membership to Spark Alternative Learning Center’s online library of more than 40,000 books. That is a great value to students and their parents.
